Face recognition smart door locks are getting pretty common now 'cause you don't need keys to get in your house. But are they any good? Can they spot your face right all the time? I'll look into just how good the face ID is on these locks, check out some different ones, and see if they're a good fit for your place.
A smart door lock with camera uses a camera to see your face and opens up if it knows it's you. Some, like the Tuya smart lock, also let you use your fingerprint or a PIN for extra safety.
1. Scan: The camera snaps a pic of your face.
2. Check: The lock looks at things like your eyes, nose, and mouth shape.
3. Match: It sees if your face matches any of the faces it already knows.
4. Open: If it's a match, you're in!
Most smart locks with cameras do a solid job, but some are better than others. These things can change how well they work:
Light: Works best when it's bright.
Angle: Gotta look straight at the cam.
Looks: Hats, glasses, or new 'dos can mess some locks up.

A decent security door lock with face recognition is usually pretty safe. Still, nothing's perfect. To keep your place safe:
✔ Have a backup (like a PIN or fingerprint).
✔ Keep the lock's software up to date.
✔ Don't buy the cheapest brand you can find—go with names you know, like Tuya smart lock.
If you want to ditch keys and get in fast, a smart lock with a camera is a solid plan. Just grab one that's known to be accurate and has good reviews!
- Try the lock out in different light before you buy.
- Make sure you can unlock it in more than just one way.
- See if it plays well with your home Wi-Fi.
